Implementing Routines

Bringing home a new baby can mean a big change in the day to dayroutines of a household. It may be your first baby and you are wanting to establish a routine or it may be a second or third baby that has to fit into day to day life of the household.

Either way, routines are a very important part of a happy home and the sooner you establish a consistent routine at home the sooner your new baby will settle.

My packages include;

  • Understanding the day to day needs of your baby

  • Understanding the changes in the needs of your baby and what is age appropriate

  • Evaluating what is currently in place and what is working/not working

  • Implementing a routine that works for the whole family

  • Working around a routine eg; school pick ups, shopping, meal times

When working with mothers to establish a routine it is important to look at all aspects of family life so a routine can be implemented that will suit both mother and baby. It is also important to remember that for the first months of a new babies life, their needs must be put first and this may mean delaying a play date or changing the time of an appointment.

You may need to ask for help from friends or family, but this is ok…

It is vital to ask for help when you need it!

If your baby is a ‘napper’ and does not sleep through a sleep cycle which generally lasts up to 50 mins (ref National Sleep Foundation), this can mean they may become over tired by the end of the day and struggle to settle well at night.
